Vision for Shelter

We have twenty one shelters, custom made from industrial grade woven polyurethane dura flex black and white model tarps, suspended by 1/4 inch solid braided nylon ropes, and one traditionally made hawaiian hale shelter made from locally grown iron wood and fan palm leaves from the kona side. We have a yoga studio, community kitchen, four dorms, camping tarp, private camps, magic closet, garage, tool room, and a green house. The vision is to build Hawaiian hales over our tarp shelters to insulate against the heat and to protect the tarps from getting damaged by u.v. light and the wind. We have a vision for one more shelter, it will be a multi-media storm proof sound proof oak pallet bunker insulated with non toxic recycled non fiberglass insulating materials. It will have two six bed bunks for a total of twelve beds and a twelve volt climate controll air conditioner, wi fi, and a giant flat screen t.v for viewing educational programs. It’s also going to house community solar hot water showers. Every shelter will be catching water and generating their own power. They all have running water, sinks and showers, home made kitchens, furniture, beds, and plywood pallet floors. They are all opened, with out walls, to allow the ocean breezes, the sun and the moon light in. The dense vegetation creates living natural walls for privacy and noice reduction between the camps. The fruit forest canopy above us is creating shade, producing food, blocking the wind, sequestering carbon out of the atmosphere, producing oxygen, storing rain water in its vast root systems, and providing a habitat for bird, insects, and animals to live in…
